Stade Jean Bouin
Angers - France
Rue du Colombier, 49100 Angers, France

jeanbouinStade Jean Bouin opened in 1912 and was initially called Stade Bessonneau. It first had an athletics track, which got removed in 1957 in a redevelopment, which is also when the stadium received its current name.

The stadium underwent a next major redevelopment in 1993 when Angers promoted to Ligue 1, including the construction of the new curved Colombier stand behind the goal, similar to those of Marseille’s Stade Velodrome which would get built a few years later.

Stade Jean Bouin underwent the next few changes in the 2010s when first a new stand got built and in following years further refurbishments were performed.

In March 2017, the Angers city council voted to rename the stadium to Stade Raymond-Kopa in honour of the recently deceased Raymond Kopa, an ex-player of the club.

How to get to Stade Jean Bouin

Stade Jean Bouin is located towards the south-west of Angers at roughly 2 kilometres from Angers’ city centre. It takes about half an hour to walk to the stadium from the cathedral in the centre.

It also takes about half an hour to walk from the main rail station, which is located close to the city centre. Angers has good train connections to the rest of France. Frequent trains run from Paris. The journey takes about 1.5 hours.

Instead of walking, you can also catch either bus 2, 9, or 12 to get to Stade Jean Bouin.
